The smell of smoke and fuel lingered thick in the air long after the last burn. Frightened even more than when as a child, her father, Steve deployed to a war zone, Jenna Hayward knew she’d waited too long to leave. Still in Jacksonville months after he’d first warned her to get out and join him and her sister Laura’s family in Arizona, the situation in Jacksonville had escalated to a state of chaos as one burn district was selected after another…what would it take to reach her family, and how much would she lose in the process?

Burn District 2. The horror she ultimately goes through is not far from reality in some parts of our world, but we think it can never happen here.

  1. Could not put down your book- BURN DISTRICT 1 Suzanne! Our daughter, Bethany has ds and just turned 15! Gripping- all too real of a thread I’m afraid- cI can’t wait for book 2 – When is it’s release date? 5 stars!

    • Dear Cindy, Thank you so much for writing. I’m so sorry I’m just answering this now. The comments were delivered in a batch! I am thrilled to hear from a DS parent. My concern was an the unflattering portrayal when Junior shot the assailant’s hand, but so far, no criticism for it. I’m working on the next book now and there so much to write about I might divide it into a third book.

Have a great weekend and Happy Valentine’s Day!

      Suzanne

      • Thanks for taking the time to respond Suzanne! Wow! again, I’ll just say wow! I keep checking to see if book 2 came out and I missed it! I wasn’t offended at all- in fact, I loved your portrayal of Junior being an individual- with ds- not a stereotypical- “those down syndrome people are so loving”. Bethany practices driving our car in the country. (although I’m not sure a driver’s license is in her future, we believe she will benefit from learning and being familiar with a car. I hope her future holds marriage and semi-independant living! Again- LOVED the book and looking forward to part 2 or 3 or how ever many you write! 🙂
